The first year includes a core set of mandatory courses (30 ECTS) covering qualitative and quantitative methods, innovation management, organizational behavior, international business, and mixed methods, complemented by seminars, research mentoring activities, and academic publishing workshops.

Quantitative Research Methods (20 hours)
The course introduces PhD students to the design and implementation of quantitative research in the social sciences. It covers the logic of hypothesis testing, measurement issues, data preparation and the use of core statistical techniques.
Qualitative Research Methods (20 hours)
The course familiarizes PhD students with the main qualitative research traditions and their application in management and organization studies.
Innovation Management (20 hours)
The course examines key theories and empirical research on how organizations create, manage and appropriate innovation.
Foundations of Organizational Behavior (20 hours)
This course introduces students to the core theories and research traditions in organizational behavior.
International Business and Entrepreneurship (20 hours)
The course explores the main perspectives on firms and entrepreneurs operating across borders.
Mixed Methods Research (20 hours)
